No room for complacency, shuttlers told

MIRI: Badminton players should not be complacent but continue to strive to train harder for more victories in future.

Just as there was no stop to learning for schoolchildren, there was also no stop to training for athletes in sports and other fields, said Miri Badminton Association (BA) president Allen Wong Siew Poh.

“We are proud of your achievement but do not rest on your laurels; continue to train hard and focus on training to improve your performance for more victories in future.” Wong said this at the closing of the 2009 Invitational and Series 2 Sabah Junior Closed tournament at Multi- Purpose Hall, Likas Sports Complex in Kota Kinabalu recently.

Eleven players from Miri BA were selected to the championship led by Wong, who commended that they had done well in the event.

China coach Wang Jing Si, who joined the team, was also very happy and proud of the players’ achievements.

“Badminton needs a lot of stamina,” he pointed out.

“But keep on training, be studious and diligent.”
