KUALA LUMPUR: Four junior racers have been selected to shoulder the Petronas Mofaz Racing team’s challenge in the Formula BMW series for the 2010 season.
They are Calvin Wong Weng Man, 17, Ryan Ritchie, 16, Abang Amirul Hadi Abang Khirudin, 17, and Natasha Nur Ida Adam Seatter, 16.
“The four are the products of Petronas’ talent development progamme at the oil giant’s Petronas Formula Xperience (PFX) racing school,” Petronas Mofaz Racing’s team manager Mohamed Fauzy Abdul Hamid told reporters here yesterday.
He said the Formula BMW series was a world-level competition and could set the stage for the youngsters to go to bigger racing events like the Formula 1.
Natasha Nur Ida, the sole female racer in the quartet, said she was overjoyed to be selected into the team.
This year, she came in third place in the Yamaha SL Cup Malaysia which was held at Sepang Circuit here on July 16 and will be taking part in the Asian Karting Open Championship in Macau next year. — Bernama
