Undergoing intensive development

His Majesty said the declaration of
Labuan as a federal territory in 1984
and Putrajaya in 2001 consolidated
the existence and importance of the
federal territory entity and
intensified development of the three territories.
Tuanku Mizan said Putrajaya was
also undergoing intensive
development with the
implementation of well-planned and
sophisticated infrastructure in line
with the objective to make it a
government administrative capital of distinction.
Labuan, His Majesty said, had
developed into a leading
international offshore financial
centre, a duty-free tourist haven, a
‘halal’ hub and a petroleum and gas industry hub.
Tuanku Mizan extended his
congratulations to Abdullah for
having notched up another milestone
in the nation’s history with the
introduction of the Federal Territory
awards, decorations and medals.
“I see the conferment of the
Federal Territory awards,
decorations and medals as a highly
valued recognition and appreciation
for the citizens of the federal
territories. I hope that the
conferment of these awards,
decorations and medals will serve as
a catalyst for these citizens to strive
even harder to realise the vision of
the federal territories to be
progressive and prosperous,” His
Majesty said. — Bernama
