Irfan to replace Worden as Terengganu coach

KUALA TERENGGANU: Former international Irfan Bakti Abu Salim, who coached Perlis last season, is expected to replace Ken Worden as Terengganu coach next season.

Terengganu team manager Sheikh Tajudin Sheikh Yusoff, who expressed disappointment over the failure by Terengganu to win any titles last season, said Irfan would replace the Australian whose contract was not extended.

“We hope Irfan can inject new blood into the Terengganu side during the M-League next season,” said Sheikh Tajudin, who is also Terengganu FA vicepresident.

He added that though Terengganu did well in the Super League by finishing fifth and making it to the semi-finals of the Malaysia Cup, Terengganu ended the season without any titles.

Apart from a new coach, Terengganu are also expected to see a number of new faces in the squad next season as Sheikh Tajudin hinted that a number of players from the current squad would be dropped to make way for new players.

The final list would be announced on Monday. — Bernama
