KUCHING: Men’s veteran singles defending champion Ling Kah Nge is expecting a tough campaign this year at the Sarawak Milo Open Table Tennis Championship here.

“The game is still in its preliminary stages and we will see how things go from today,” said Kah Nge.

“Although there are a lot of good players in this category, I am confident of retaining the title.” He had earlier teamed up with John Wong, Ting Hua King, Lau Cheng Soon and Chen Tzeh Chun to grab the men’s veteran team title and is looking forward to bringing glory to Sibu again.

Kah Nge has been playing table tennis from the age of 13 and is the treasurer for Sibu Table Tennis Association.

Now 50, he has several titles under his belt — he is an eight-time men’s singles Sarawak Open champion and had represented the state in Sukma.

Kah Nge beat Leong Weng Seng 3-0 in yesterday’s preliminary round.
