KOTA KINABALU: Veteran Sabah shuttler John Ho Tze Fah will be participating in the 16th World Chinese Badminton Championship in Nanjing, China on Sunday.
John, 66, a member of Sabah Association of Senior Citizens, will be defending his title won in the 15th World Chinese Badminton Championship 2008 in Kunming, China.
He won two gold medals in the men’s singles and doubles in the 65 to 69-year-old category as well as a bronze medal for the 130-year-old combination age category in last year’s championship.
Since 2004, John had participated in international badminton championships in Kuala Lumpur, Ching San, Shanghai, Taipei and Kun Ming also in China.
Early this week, he paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister cum Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Peter Pang En Yin.
Pang praised John for his healthy lifestyle and wished the latter the best for the coming championship.
“I hope that you will be able to defend your titles and bring back more medals to Sabah,” Pang said. — Bernama
