KUCHING: Former striker Mohd Safri Amit has been recalled to boost the attack of the Sarawak team in the Malaysian League next season.
An official of FAS FMG Sdn Bhd said yesterday Safri would fill the position vacated after Morris Jagan was called up for national duty.
He added that the striker from Bintangor was picked as he had played for Sarawak and Melaka in the Malaysian League.
“I understand FAS has negotiated with his employer to secure his release for the Malaysia League next season,” the official said.
Safri, 30, played for Brooke Dockyard in the Kuching Football League that ended last Sunday.
According to the official, Sarawak need Safri to play alongside former national Afendi Abdul Malik and young striker Mohd Hadera Bakri.
Under the new management of FAS FMG Sdn Bhd, Sarawak have lined up 22 players, including six imports from Peninsular Malaysia.
The team is coached by former national coach Mohamad Zaki Shaikh Ahmad from Negri Sembilan, assisted by Mohd Farhan Abdullah and Mohd Azley Abdullah.
